Been awhile I guess but that don't mean I ain't here no more, just taking a break is all. I was out doing some work fixing a buddy's garage and it sorta hit me that I should get the experience down in this blog, y'know to keep it alive an' all.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well, its relevant cause when your working doing manual labor, your exercising too so that converts to another great way to keep yourself fit and health, as long as you don't overdo things and go put out your back or some such stupid thing. So here's what I think of giving you all some &lt;a href="http://hisweightloss.com/exercise-tips-for-men-at-work"&gt;exercise tips for men at work&lt;/a&gt; just to keep yourself in trim without doing any damage to yourself along the way.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First up, safety first rules should always be obeyed! Now they don't make them rules for no good reason, so you ought to follow them and they'll keep you safe. Like wearing a hard hat and protective clothing in any construction zone like I was doing on my buddy's garage. We were rebuilding a collapsed brick wall and had to shore up the roof with some temporary planks of wood that were braced for strength. Lucky I did cause a chunk of loose masonry fell and zipped right past my nose. An inch or so closer and it would have bounced off my hard hat, but if I wasn't wearing one, it woulda made a big dent in my unprotected head. So yeah, safety stuff is important!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Next up, take care with power tools. Some of the big ones like power saws or masonry cutters can rip your leg off in a second if you slip and let the machine yank itself out of your grasp. You need to be strong enough to hold the cutter or saw firmly so it don't move or rip when your cutting.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also, watch out for drills and other machinery cause its way too easy to have accidents with them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyhow, to the exercise part. When your holding onto a big masonry cutter and slicing through a wall, you need some strength in your arms and body to hold it firm while moving slowly along the cut line. This is actually pretty good exercise cause it builds up your muscle strength. So does mixing up cement by hand or in a power mixer. Either way you gotta shovel sand and cement into whatever your mixing it in and after a few dozen shovel loads, your arms are gonna get a good workout! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Same goes for sanding, drilling, cutting, stucco work, pointing, bricklaying and just general labor around the construction site. So never think you don't get a good workout when your working except if your at a desk. I wasn't writing too much seein as how I don't really like to write too much in any case and getting my fingers to work this keyboard ain't likely to make me wanna do too much of it. I was watchin Nutrisystem talking about how they can save you all this money when you sign up, but what I can't understand is if you didn't sign up with them in the first place, you would save yourself a whole load more money, right? Guess that logic is lost on folks cause they seem to be signin up in their thousands to that company. So what do they have that's so attractive?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well, seems they make it darn easy for you. Probably easier'n you could do it by yourself cause they deliver all your food to your house, yeah you heard me right ALL your food for a four week stint. You know its probably even possible to &lt;a href="http://obesity.erifo.com/diet/beat-obesity-with-a-review-of-nutrisystem/"&gt;beat obesity with a review of Nutrisystem&lt;/a&gt; and then going on the diet if that's what works for you. So all you do is each mealtime, take out a pack, open it and eat! Oh yeah, somes you have to microwave if you want a hot meal. An' that's all, folks!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How easy is that? Pretty dang easy I guess, so what's the catch?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well, you have to pay for it I guess, cause something like that don't come for nothin. Then the meals can't be like your mom makes, cause nothin that comes out a packet is any good in my book. But if folks want to eat that stuff, they're welcome to it. Guess they're already used to eating all that processed junk from the grocery store anyways, so there's probably an improvement somewhere.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyways, that's all I wanted to write about this time. The message is that if you want to be healthy and keep fit, then don't waste your money on stuff that came out of a factory! Anyhow, I was thinking along the lines of the way folks are always harking on about losing weight and they never do the right things to make it happen. You know, always trying out this or that stupid diet that never works cause they're stupid and eat snacks when they thing no one is looking!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well, that ain't the way to lose weight and for someone like me who likes to keep hisself in good shape, it don't make much sense to go bout it in that way. Sure, &lt;a href="http://slimmer.adjrevolution.com/slimming/slimming-with-the-best-weight-loss-tips/"&gt;slimming with the best weight loss tips&lt;/a&gt; is maybe gonna help you some, but really, there is only one sure fire way to keep yourself in good shape and that includes not putting on a load of fat and that's to get some daily exercise!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yep, its as simple as that so it makes me scratch my head when I hear folks talking and they are always complaining they are fat, but they are too dam lazy to get off their fat butts and do some work! Come on, it don't have to be hard even. Get yerself a bicycle and ride the dam thing every day if you wanna do somethin that's fun. Or go to the pool and don't just get in and splash around like a lame duck, swim up and down a few times and you'll be totally amazed at how much fitter you'll start to get in a couple weeks or so. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hell, just walking fast around the place is gonna fire up your metabolism and if you do some decent exercise like swimming, or cyclin or walkin =, just make sure you do it liek you mean it and your gonna get fitter and hey presto buddy, the weight starts to fall off.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But the best yet is not so much the losing weight part of it, but whats more importent is you tone up your body and it starts looking great -- like in great shape especially when you try on that new dress or them new tight jeans. Yep, that's what you do it for, not just so you can see a difference on the bathroom scales.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyways, that's my pep talk over an done with for another month I guess LOL! In fact, if yer sitting round on yer lazy butt fretting about how you put on all that extra weight at Christmas, then your probly gonna put on some more!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ok, what are Jake's tips for getting rid of those Christmas pounds?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First, get off yer fat butt and get walking in the fresh air. Don't matter if its cold, just get out there and do it! Yeah, switch the darn TV set off if you can't bear to miss the last half hour of them advertisements for burgers and coke, man you are a lost case. Only way to lose weight is to move your body and shake them cobwebs away! If you have a pool you can use, indoor and heated if its cold in your neck of teh woods, then go use it! Swimming is great exercise, its fun and it burns the fat!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My other tip is to stop eating junk if you still are and eat some fresh fruit instead. Do you have any idea just how good for you an ordinary, plain and boring apple is? Its very good for you in more ways'n one! Drink lots of water. Yep, that even more boring clear stuff that comes outta the faucet in your kitchen. Know where that is? I don't usually post my personal feelings about it much, but here are some hard truths you need to hear. This is important. All of them have look great by losing weight which cater to weight loss tips as well as this. I'm the new blood. I'll ignore the obvious for a moment. That was a juicy story. I should find other great places for exercising, but I prefer walking, running and swimming. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can feel some guilt about not doing more, but some days thats the way it is. It's only fear that makes you run. The reason is there are plenty of things you need to think about when designing a purpose built bathroom for someone with disabilities and you don't wanna mess it up, cause once its done, its done.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;See, once you built it, there's no going back unless your a glutton for punishment and like re-doing stuff. Except a bathroom is a load of work and as I said, once its done, its done.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First thing you need to get right is the layout of the room. Now if your starting with a blank canvas then its a lot easier than a room with stuff already in. So if you can do it, clear all the stuff out a your bathroom and that makes life easier. Then you can measure up and draw it out on a few sheets of graph paper. Graph paper is great for designing rooms cause you can put stuff where you think it would go best, then if there's something you don't like, you can just draw it again. Its much cheaper than getting a load of stuff for real and setting it all out in the room only to find that something don't fit right or there ain't enough room to get a wheelchair past two pieces of furniture.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So once you got the plan all laid out rightly, then you can order your stuff and put it in for real. The most important part about designing a handicap bathroom layout is making sure the person who is gonna use it can get in there easy with a wheelchair and get past all the stuff without it being hard. So wide gaps are important between furniture.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The handicap shower, as I said in the last post needs to be big with easy access for a wheelchair and plenty of grab rails in all the right places so the user feels safe and is safe!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A vanity unit needs to be low level with room enough under it so a wheelchair user can get close with the front of the chair under so the user don't have to lead too far forward and its uncomfortable to use.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The toilet also needs to be at the right level for easy transfer from wheelchair to toilet seat and back again, with rails there for support.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Towel racks need to be at low level too so the user can easily get to them and same goes for any storage cabinets for toiletries and stuff.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The floor has to be tiled to cope with water spills and a drain to take away any water accidents so the place don't get waterlogged. You need to figure the lights to be bright and leave no shadow areas. There's plenty of them in my town and they get about mostly in wheelchairs or mobility scooters but that's not gonna be the topic of this post here. In fact I want to look at the bathroom in a house and how it can be developed into something better with some &lt;a href="http://hubpages.com/hub/handicap-shower-accessories"&gt;handicap shower accessories&lt;/a&gt; to give the shower some more accessibility while making it a place you wanna use. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There's plenty of stuff you can get to improve a regular shower, but when you talk about a handicap shower, you're talking a whole new ball game.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For starters, the kind of shower that is of more use to folks with disabilities has to be wider than a regular enclosure with plenty of grab rails and preferably a handicap shower seat cause most folks with disabilities can't stand up in a shower, or if they can, it can't be for too long and there is a greater risk of them falling. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So you're looking more at stuff like heavy duty curtains and poles to support them cause these are better at keeping the water in where it should be and they don't get mold, they're tear resistant, stain resistant and all sorts not least of they're long lasting! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Shower chairs or stools need to be of strong construction and be able to take plenty of weight, cause remember plenty of folks with disabilities are overweight cause they can't get no exercise in like regular folks. So when they sit they need to know that the chair ain't gonna break on them and cause them an accident or nothing. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Other stuff like extra grab rails always come in handy, plus soap and toiletries racks that can be fitted low down for easy access. Here's the sixth helping of my good health tips and fitness ideas that'll make you think some more about what your doing and what your eating that makes you healthy or unhealthy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Look For Substitute Foods.&lt;/span&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No matter what youre' thinking right now, do not go reaching for all the great brands that you already see, know and love immediately, or at least not without thinking about it first. Sure, everyone knows that eggs are "good" for you, but why don't you consider using something like low calorie egg substitutes instead? In fact, plenty of restaurants will allow you to order those lower calorie foods where they're available. There really are countless "lower calorie" alternatives available when it comes to all kinds of food for you to want to try. Then if something different that you're trying doesn't taste good, then by all means go ahead and find a better substitute. Or just eat less of the original. You know there are always options! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Remember that in some cases, the substitute foods may of course be worse for you and your health than the regular version of the same product. So just like I said in the last health tip, you should always read the label first. The good news is, healthier choices are gradually and silently replacing their "normal" counterparts. There's no way to avoid doing this health tip. If you don’t know what you're putting in your mouth, you're flying blind and the advertisers and food industry are taking your money and making you fat. Don't assume, either... triple-check the ingredients list and serving sizes. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You must rely on yourself for this. Nobody else is going to be able to lose the weight or do the math for you. Remember that always cause it's all down to you and only you!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's not that complicated a task to be doing by the way, but it will require some small amount of effort on your part. If you do nothing else, just make sure you pay close attention to the calorie count on the label. It’s essential that you not feel alone, and reaching out to friends (new or old) is typically a damn smart move. I heard about there are some real good support groups you can join online but didn't know about them when I began down the road to losing weight and getting fit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You have to know that there is others are out there for moral support - they know things that you couldn't possibly ever know and they’ve probably been "in your shoes" at some point in the past (or right now in the present). Share stories, laughter, tears, successes, and failures - share them. There are thousands of communities out there, so keep looking until you find the one that fits you. Here's the third slice of my good health tips and fitness ideas that'll make you think some more about what you do and what your eating that makes you healthy or unhealthy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Take before and after photos.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I know it sucks to see yourself as a fat lump (you, that's what I was myself once  upon a time - if only to get myself motivated to meet my weight loss goal). However, there's no easier way to illustrate your progress down the road to a fitter, healthier body.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The "after" photos are loads more fun to capture and share with others, admittedly. Find yourself on Flickr looking like a real star! It's good to see yourself the same way how others see you. You got to ask yourslef do you like how you look? Well, for those folks who don't want to get theirselves to the gym for a good workout, or go on some long runs, then I can give them a few &lt;a href="http://itexmall.com/weight-loss/swimming-tips-for-weight-loss/" target="_blank"&gt;swimming tips for weight loss&lt;/a&gt; that might help.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ok, its a no brainer but you need a pool or if you're the intrepid type and live by the sea, you got a free patch of water to swim in! If you aint, then go to the pool. Ok, some folks can't swim so you better get a teacher and learn, cause if you can't swim what the hell you gonna do if you fall in a river or something? Or worse, if your kid falls in and you can't save them cause to were too pussy to learn how to swim?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Any how, get in the pool and start swimming up and down until your whacked out and then your done baby! Do that a few times a week and you gonna get fit and nice and slim too in no time!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That is, of course if you lay off them cakes and sodas and stuff cause you gotta be sensible about this. Hell, when you're swimming 100 lengths of the Olympic pool overarm and then you can get out and run for 10 miles and still not get outta breath, then your fit enough to cope with some cake and cream man!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But if you can't, then you have to eat good until you can! My last post was &lt;a href="http://fitfor.blogspot.com/2008/10/not-fit-for-writing.html"&gt;Not Fit For Writing&lt;/a&gt;, and I ain't making no apologies no more cause I just ain't got time to write too often in here and my other blog about dogs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So this is gonna be short cause I already spent too long thinking what I was gonna write in the other one and I just finished it. So this is what I do a ton of and that's running.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I run a few miles every day cause in my town there's plenty of open space and we don't get all that much traffic clogging up the air with their damn pollution. That's the thing, you see all these keep fit fanatics running along main streets where all the cars go by and they're breathing in all that shit. But what makes it worse is cause they're exercising they're breathing harder and sucking ion great lungfuls of carbon monoxide and benzene and its more dangerous than smoking a packet of cigarettes a day. Well, that as maybe, but the truth of it is I aint the big writer in the family and getting me to sit and write is tougher than getting a pizza outta the face of a fat TV slob!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ok, now I gone and insulted fat TV slobs everywhere, but hell, I guess there aint to many of them readin this blog anyhow haha!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ok, what is my earth splitting fitness tip of the day? ...ok, make that the two months that I said I wouldn't wait last time when I wrote &lt;a href="http://fitfor.blogspot.com/2008/08/fit-for-dog-walking.html"&gt;Fit For Dog Walking&lt;/a&gt;!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well, you're gonna like this one too cause its pretty easy and lets face it folks, the easy stuff gets done and the difficult stuff gets ignord! Its a piece of exercise appartaus that most folks got laying about in their homes someplace unless you live in a one story or maybe an apartment on the ground... So here it is... drum roll...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stairs!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yep, as &lt;a href="http://weightlosstips.bakeradio.com"&gt;weight loss tips&lt;/a&gt; go, stairs are great workout equipment cause theyr free and if you aint got them in your home, then there in plenty other places. So what'd ya do with them?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Run up and down them of course dummy! Hell, maybe you thought when I said easy I meant sit on your fat ass and stare real hard at them! Hahaha! Only rattlin ya cage!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Careful if you aint done this fer a while, cause it gets you out a breath real fast and makes ya legs ache at first, so take it easy and maybe do 3 or 4 reps up and down to begin. Do it every day and after a while you can do more and go faster. Then you can pregress onto running up two steps at a time and really feel your strenth improving.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Oh yeah, if you got a heart problem DO NOT DO THIS. Hell, if you got a heart problem go see you doctor, man! An you better start eating right and lay off the pizzas and burgers! And drink plenty of water NOT coke or sodas, that shit'll put you in your grave faster than anything!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ok, that's my "fit for" tip for today. You know if you want to get smart and start even slower, go into town and check out the parks that have them ramps for wheelchairs. Yep, you can start real slow by running up and down them till your outta breath. Oh yeah, and watch out for folks who need to use them for real, hell theyr ment to be for them so you gotta be courteus too!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Trust your big brother Jake to help you get fit and healthy and while your in the park don't forget to check out the nice lookin members of the opposite sex who'r maybe trying to get fit too! Now I'm supposed to link to my last post someplace here - &lt;a href="http://fitfor.blogspot.com/2008/05/fit-for.html"&gt;Fit For&lt;/a&gt; - there you go!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I been reading that blog of guy called Grizzly Bear and he's making so much sense for folks who want to make some cash from writing blogs and he says to put links in your posts and stuff. makes it easier to find you I guess. Well, that aint for me but my brother Elmar is doing some of that on his blogs so I guess I'll leave all that stuff to him as he's the clever one outta us both! So I just write some stuff in here when I get the time. And that aint been much of just lately!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyhow, I spend a good part of my day keeping myself active and pretty fit which is why Elmar told me to start writing this blog so other folks can see what I do and maybe do some for theirselves.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I first got talking about walking my dogs and yep, that's what I do plenty of cause they need the exercise too! Hey, its a plain simple thing for anyone to do is just git yourself a dog and take him for a walk twice or more every day. Depending on how much free time you got.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My thing is free time is precious and I don't want to waste it slouched in front of the TV set like most folks I know getting fat and lazy. It don't have to be that way. Walking your dog is good exercise and its fun too cause you git to see whats goin on in your neighborhood and sometimes I meet up with some dam pretty women walking their dogs too! Oh yeah!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is always a good reason for doin stuff what gets you out of the house, cause you aint gonna meet no nice women sitting there in front of the TV stuffing pizza in yer face!  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So theres my first keep fit lesson of the day. Hell, was that easy or what?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now you can come back in another 3 months with Rhys and see what else I went and wrote hahahaha! Only kidding. That's cause its all about how I'm fit for exercise and good health, just like it says in the title.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm gonna talk about the exercise I do to keep fit and especially walking my dogs all over the place cause that's one of the best exercises I know and the most pleasurable too. I do some riding my mountain bike across country and that's a whole lot of fun.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I don't do no running though, cause that's boring for me, maybe not for other folks but I can't keep it up for too long, so cycling and walking my dogs is the best for me.
